
Nitya Sambamurti Ghotge trained as a veterinarian
(1985 ) and has a Masters in Veterinary Surgery
(1989)from the Bombay Veterinary College, India. She has been working
on issues of development and the environment since 1986, and is also
practicing clinical veterinary medicine and surgery.
Co-director of Anthra, her current work includes research, training
and policy advocacy on different aspects of livestock development including
Indigenous Knowledge Systems and planning for gender sensitive and sustainable
alternatives in livestock development. She has significant publications
on the themes of livestock development, bio diversity and alternative
systems of veterinary medicine. She is the author of the book "Livestock
and Livelihoods: The Indian Context " published by Center for Environment
Education, Ahmedabad and Foundation Books New Delhi.
