This book is the outcome of a research project conducted in the years 1997 to 2000 by Anthra under the “Using Agricultural Diversity Research Award Programme .
This book is divided in two parts .The first part describes the method of documentation and the major findings of Anthra’s research on traditional fodders, feeding and grazing conducted in the Western Ghats ( The Sahyadris).
The second part contains information of about 80 fodder species (trees, shrubs, creepers, grasses, crops) their local name , botanical names, nutritive values, availability, season of availability , areas found , palatability and other interesting details. Each plant is illustrated by a line diagram.
