- Disappearing grazing lands… Shepherds Protest
- Over 1,000 people mainly shepherds (Kuruba’s) along with their 4,000 sheep gathered in Chitradurga district of Karnataka in India protesting against the handing over of Amrithmahal Kavals – traditional grazing lands to government institutions. It is estimated that since 2009 over 10,000 acres of Amrithmahal Kavals in Challakere Taluk have been diverted. This would be disastrous for livestock.
