    • Research Position:  

      Anthra seeks a Research Fellow to work on understanding the impact of human and livestock mobility on the emergence of zoonotic diseases in particular Scrub Typhus , Kyasanur Forest  and Leptospirosis  affecting forest-dependent communities in Maharashtra . The position is part of a larger multidisciplinary research project funded by the UK Research Councils Global Challenge Research Fund entitled “IndoZooRisk: Using One Health approaches to understand and co-develop interventions for zoonotic diseases affecting forest communities in India”.

      Responsibilities: The RA will be expected to collect field data, oral histories from mobile pastoral communities , map migratory routes , manage and analyse  data , write reports for the project . The RA will also be expected to assist with the planning and execution of stakeholder workshops and consultations, as well as assist with other components of the project.

      Qualifications: A Masters degree from any of the following disciplines  Veterinary sciences, Epidemiology, Environmental Science , Animal Science , Wildlife Science, Anthropology , Sociology .  Students with Bachelors degrees with exceptional skills may also apply

      The candidate must be able to undertake field work under difficult conditions, and must have the  ability to work as part of a team. The candidate must have good working knowledge of Marathi and English

      The position will be based in Maharashtra near Kolhapur . The position will require travelling between field sites in Maharashtra. The initial appointments for all positions are for 1 year, with the option of renewal contingent on performance. The post-holder will collaborate with an exciting inter-disciplinary network of researchers and stakeholders and receive training in a wide range of skills of relevance to One Health and zoonotic disease management.

      Salaries will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
